Shaw Farm Liveries is an exciting venture that was set up by Esther Horsfall in the winter of 2008. Sinse then it has grown into a very popular and successfull Livery yard.
After owning horses for many years we started getting involved in the livery industry on a small scale by offering DIY and Part Livery at our family farm back in 2005. This yard ran very successfully under Esther's management and is still offering a high class DIY and Part Livery service today. In the summer of 2008 we moved to Shaw Farm in Todmorden, this is when the work begun.
With months and months of planning and organising Shaw Farm Liveries opened its doors to business and quickly welcomed new clients and their 4 legged friends to receive the very best standard of Full Livery service. There has been continuous improvements to existing facilities and new facilities added to ensure SFL brings its customers the best in horse hospitality, we strive for the yard to be high end with 5* facilities and care along side affordability.

Our Team
Esther Horsfall - Owner/Yard Manager
Esther has been riding since she was 4; she has owned a variety of her own horses from cobs, youngsters and warmbloods for the past 9 years, keeping them on full livery yards, DIY yards and then her own yard. She has successfully established and run a DIY livery yard for the past 5 years. She has gained BHS Stage 1 R&C and is working towards Stage 2 and further, Esther is also a qualified first aider. Esther is on site working with the horses daily and always contactable.
Helena Housley - BHSAI
Helena has been around horses and riding all her life; she trained for her BHSAI and achieved it at Waverton Riding Centre under Bobby Banks in 1984. She has taught and competed to advanced medium dressage, RC, Novice and ODE, SJ and hunter trails. Helena regularly judges prelim and novice dressage, working hunter and equitation classes. Helena has been a manager of a riding school, teaching all ages and abilities, over seeing horse care, yard management, staffing, and feeding programmes. Helena is regularly on the yard and available for lessons, advice and tuition.
Harriet Horsfall - Part Time Groom
Harriet has been riding since she was 6, she has had her own horses for many years and has had a big input with Esther's horses, and she has worked along side Esther in the running of their DIY livery yard and has gained invaluable experience. Harriet has now gone into the beauty industry, however she still plays a roll within the yard. Harriet is a fantastic rider who competes her horse in ridden coloured and hunter show classes and also dressage.
Leighton Gengler
Leighton is Esther's husband, he runs all the maintenance and groundwork's from hay making to harrowing and rolling, he ensures Shaw Farm Liveries turnout is kept in top condition. He has grown up on a farm and worked on many farms, he runs his business LG Groundcare along side SFL. Leighton is on site daily running his lawn mower repairs and agricultural contracting business; he is always available for emergency maintenance and general yard jobs. Leighton has been handling horses for the many years and is an invaluable help on the yard.
Grooms
We have a group of very professional and reliable girls who work alongside Esther. They have all gained invaluable experience with horses and some have gained their Stage exams and other Equine courses. They are Aimie, Jude, Amy, Vicky and Georgie, they are all used to dealing with any problems and are always available for any help or advice.
